The Asia Women Circles @ Lean In Org organised a one day summit to provide a unique platform for both women and men to understand some of the challenges and opportunities presented to the modern day Malaysian woman and how addressing this could create a more inclusive and participative society.

Inspired by Sheryl Sandberg ‘s (Cheif Operating Officer, Facebook) best-selling book, “Lean In: Women, Work and The Will to Lead,” this summit sought to explore how women can be more empowered in the decisions that they make.

This event was officiated by YB Khairy Jamaluddin, Minister of Youth and Sports and supported by the Office of the Advisor on the Development of Women Entrepreneurs & Professionals, Prime Minister’s Department.

The Lean In Summit Malaysia 2015 featured key leaders in their respective fields, YB Khairy Jamaluddin, Minister of Youth and Sports, Julie Marie Mayer founder and Chief Executive of Ariadne Capital, a well-known VC based in London that backed the likes of Skype, to Sajith Sivanandan of Google and Michelle Gyles- McDonnough of the United Nations.

The event was attended by over 800 men and women who enthusiastically participated in all the sessions and generally learnt a lot while enjoying themselves.

The general post summit feedback collected showed that the attendees were happy with the speakers and had learnt a lot. They also indicated that they felt empowered to start asking hard questions to get the conversation started.
